Public International Law
Presentation
The DIP regulates relations between States, as well as the functioning of international organizations. International protection of the individual through a universal human rights system is also a subject of this branch of law. In this context, this course focuses on the understanding of: the evolution of international law until the present, with reference to international conflicts and the means for its peaceful settlement; the importance of the international rule as a requirement for the existence of an international community governed by the same universal principles in favor of world peace; the international subjectivity and the legal framework of collective security, use of force, international responsibility of States and international criminal responsibility. Thus, the DIP is fundamental in the training of jurists who intend to practice international advocacy, diplomacy, governmental legal advice or legal advice in international organizations.
