This is a UC about microeconomics issues, at an introductory level, basic concepts, fundamental laws
(demand, supply and prices), so that students understand the fundamental problems of economics
regulated by law.
It also introduces the main currents of economic thought underlying possible systems of economic
organization .

Syllabus

I. Economics: introduction, the fundamental economic problem and principles of economic organization;
The object of economics: Robbin's definition; The problem of alternative choices (in consumer optics,
producer and general conomy); introductory concepts.

II. Economic Systems: Schools of Reference Economic;

   1. Market Economy System;

    2. The Marxist model: directed economy system;

    3.  Mixed System

III. The Fundamental Laws of the Market;

      1 The law of demand: assumptions and demand curve;

       2. The Law of Supply: Assumptions and Supply Curve

       3. The law of supply and demand (price formation): market equilibrium

IV - Competition and Public Support Policies: Market Failures and State Intervention

V - Formation of input prices: formation of wages, incomes, interest and profits.

 Conclusion and work issues

Objectives

Achieve knowledge of basic concepts and theories of economics. To understand the scope of economic
relations and its impact on the central issues of the functioning of economic, political and social
institutions, both internally and internationally.
Prepare students for better understanding and mastery of economic relations, regulation and functioning
of markets and the economy in general, as well as preparing the basis for further training. Develop skills
to understand the fundamental problems of microeconomics relevant to training in other areas of the
Bachelor's degree.

Teaching methodologies and assessment

Theoretical and practical classes, with an expository component, because this is a discipline of basic training at the level of the first year of graduation, followed by practical examples and practical cases proposed for resolution or reflection of students, from which They can achieve the practical interest of the
acquired knowledge. Proposals for discussion in the decision-making class issued by regulators, the European Commission or the courts (national and European) given in the field of competition or organisation of markets and a whole set of practical issues extracted from The reality of our days and that may elicit the application of the acquired concepts. In some subjects, the methodology of inverted class is used, enhancing the active intervention of students in the exhibition of subjects. Discussion and critical analysis.

Evaluation: 

- Continuous valuation: Two written tests (45% each); Work papers, oral presentations, other work proposals (10%).

- Appeal exame.
