Presentation

The content of the curricular unit addresses aspects related to the practice of urban planning and urban planning, considering the following aspects:

- The shape of the contemporary city, the ex-urban peripheries, processes of urban conurbation, megalopolis and intermediate scale systems;

- The forms resulting from strategies and programs marked by the scales and image resolution of urban facts - major urban projects and sectoral operations for urban regeneration;

- The reading of the city, the territory and the city-territory (from the diffuse city to the territorial metropolis), terms of disciplinary perplexity and new operating paradigms;

- Critical dimensions o strategic options for urban policy measures / terms of compliance with the actual dynamics and specific planning and management requirements / effects of the consensus regulation system, instruction and validation of procedures;

- The renovation and rehabilitation processes of the existing city.

Syllabus

The program of the course will have the following composition:

- The shape of the contemporary city, the former intra-urban peripheries, urban conurbation processes, and systems megalopolis stopover (new metropolis);

- The resulting forms of strategies and programs marked by scales and resolution imagetic of urban facts - large urban projects and urban regeneration sector operations.

- The reading of the city, territory and territorial city (from diffuse to territorial metropolis), terms of perplexity and new disciplinary operative paradigms;

- Times of urban intervention;

- The critical dimensions of strategic options of urban policy measures / compliance with the effective dynamics and needs of planning and management / effects of the regulation system of consensus, contents and validation proceedings.

- The processes of renewal and rehabilitation of the existing city / technical and operative guide lines / validation factors and critical evaluation of policy measures.

Objectives

Critical reflection on the city and territory, based on the theoretical framework of a set of urban and territorial planning processes, in correspondence to its various physical, technological and socio-political contexts, interests and dynamics of settlement, growth, evolution, densification, modification and regeneration, among other aspects that matter to the understanding of the structures and territorial systems currently existing.

Teaching methodologies and assessment

The discipline will be exercised by theoretical classes and theoretical-practical classes. Participation in classes will be subject to admission frequency and assessment factor. The evaluation will be based on a notebook made up of written pieces and pieces designed for prospective interpretation of the areas involved in the exercise of the project or other territory to be studied, by testing thematic contents central to the discipline program, to be identified and proposed by the student.

Continuous assessment, without final exam, based on the work done individually, implying the systematic presence of students in all classes, considering attendance at least 75% of the classes taught to be mandatory.

Considering that the development of the exercise occurs in the two academic semesters, it will be possible to conduct an appeal exam, in order to assess the performance and performance of the student's evolution throughout the development of the exercise throughout the year.
