It is expected that the students, through exposure to the syllabus, to be able to re-conceptualize and
verbalize in a precise and effective way their spatial and urban experience.
It is intended that students acquire critical and verbal skills to relate their new experiences in connection
with the practice of architecture.

Journeys
To travel in order to learn how to see

Objectives

The aim of the course is to familiarize the student with the conceptual universe of discourse and the
architectural discipline, through a broad and introductory exposure to the most basic ways of organizing
space. Based on a series of journeys in space and time to discover cities, cultures, architecture,
characters and ideas, the course will be an entry into the disciplinary universe of architecture.

Teaching methodologies and assessment

The course is developed through lectures in which the teacher presents, discusses and contextualizes
the issues under debate, followed by exercises in which students rehearse the basic skills for each
subject. The course is expected to produce at the end an essay / drawing / presentation of one of the
topics chosen by the student. Ongoing assessment will have a final weight of 70% validated with the
partial exercise, the final test will have a 30% weighting in the final evaluation.

The process of individual evaluation is made on a weekly and dynamic way, in which the student shows
is worth through the way she or he conduct the personal research and evolve the critical reasoning on the
various subjects.
