Syllabus
The course will have, in addition to the use of instrumental components of the discipline, a strong analytic and argumentative reflection component, focusing on the systematic study of architecture and its public space, developing a program of classes around the groups of subjects related to public spaces and forms of equipments.
Objectives
The program and objectives of this U.C. aims to raise students interest in the theoretical movements, compositional discourses and architectural languages that marked, throughout the twentieth century, the materialization and thinking about the architecture collective buildings through its public spaces as equipments. The program of this U.C. also aims to provide students with knowledge that enable them to understand and develop methods of analysis regarding the relationship between theory and design practice, between concepts and their formal and spatial materialization, through spaces of public use and their specific constraints whose practical development takes place in the discipline of project 4.
Teaching methodologies and assessment
The course unfolds through classes that contextualize and questions the issues under debate by analyzing case studies in which students present their critically argumentative reflection. The student is expected to produce in the end a written essay articulated, reasoned according to the criteria of analysis and disciplinary synthesis. This essay and presentation in class will be the objects of evaluation. Assessment is continuous, without any kind of exam constituting the matter of evaluation, the exercises and written works as well as individual presentation and attendance. Due to Covid 19 and to the department directives the classes and evaluation are online.
