Project 2.1
Presentation
The purpose of discipline is to get an understanding of what is the architectural composition, and the methods of developing a project. The architectural design is experienced in the project exercise in a defined context in a citybloc. The aim is to understand, composition, geometry, volume and types of occupation and with this understanding consolidated accomplish a project proposal able to articulate the composition of the whole, and the part. The aim is the understanding of the development process of a project, a method of research, testing, and criticism, to a proper formal idea to use the program proposed in the exercise. The aim is, through critical drawing explore the urban unit where you insert the exercise, integrating the knowledge of theoretical disciplines. The goal is to get a critical and contemporary thought in the proposals.

Syllabus
The syllabus is the realization of a project of a small building, with a simple program, consolidated in an urban context, of determined composition. The projected building will require a proper articulation of spaces, without much organizational complexity, but which demands a reaction critical and questioning way of using the spaces. The urban area chosen force an analysis with support in the design, to understand their compositional rules. In the classes the reviews will be directed for how the project reacts and participates in the territory. The review will stimulate research in understanding the proposals, both in its formal aspects, in meaning, in the reasons and theoretical reasons, contributing to include design and theoretical reasons in the method of developing solutions. The work schedules are the scale 1/500 and 1/200.
Objectives
The skills to be developed are from the field of concepts, theoretic and instrumental: -Notions of scale, proportion and order -Integrating interdisciplinary knowledge in architectural proposal; -Method research and project development; -Understanding of urban structures and logic surrounding the proposed changes; -Understanding of the program and understanding the use of the spaces defined.
Teaching methodologies and assessment
The methodology is based on: The "critics" on the design and other methods of understanding the urban unit to study; The theoretical "critics" about the method of developing the project and its reasons; -Comparative critique of all works, with the participation of lecturers from various disciplines that converge in the project; -Discussion of exemplary projects in solving the problems posed; -Master classes relevant to the issues of the project; -Classes open to invited guests; -Exposure of proposed intervention; Assessment will be continuous assistance required, with intermediate stages collective evaluation sessions, focusing on: -Correct analysis of the territory; -Integrating interdisciplinary knowledge in architectural proposal; -Method research and project development; -Understanding of urban structures and logic surrounding the proposed changes; -Understanding of the program and understanding the use of the spaces defined.
