Project 1.2

Presentation

The discipline of Project 1.2 aims to sensitize and motivate the student to values ranging from architectural and artistic culture not yet experienced, to the manual experimentation of instruments of action of technological nature - drawing and mock-up, among others. These valences are proportionated in order to achieve a plastic sensitivity capable of synthesizing an intuitive approach in the discovery of forms and their use, with the necessary rationalization of systematic ideas through notions of order and rigor associated with a first approach to the constructive aspects.

The development of practical works aims, on a first phase, to resort to intuition as a privileged element in the discovery of the use of forms, until the discovery of the need for a systematic rationalization leading to the consistency between idea and proposal, and a progressive research of logic and rigor, where there is room for a general approach of constructive aspects.

Syllabus

The program proposes to design a house in a real context to allow the first approach to the methodology of spatial composition and deepening of rigor in the processes of representation and spatial design.

It also aims to foster critical reflection on the student's own project, but also the colleagues¿ projects and, thus, enhance the necessary graphic expression and oral communication.

This way students will be familiar with the architectural complexity, working in particular:

-interpretation of a program: use and program as integral elements of the project;

-function and space character;

-order: relation between functional organization and structure definition;

-deepening of the concepts of composition, extent and module;

-sensitivity to the qualities of plastic materials;

-introduction to the problems of constructive and structural feasibility.

Objectives

-develop critical skills of observation and analysis;

-enhance and develop a synthesis capacity;

-start a methodological dynamic of spatial composition;

-ability to relate space organization with its experiences, while developing the capacity for its representation;

-mastery of the basic instruments of the act of designing - drawing and mock-up;

- Initiate the rigor in elaborating documentation, graphical display of ideas, processes and project proposals;

Teaching methodologies and assessment

Being the central theme the architectural object ¿ the inhabit in the real context, we intend to promote an interactive learning, autonomous and diverse, referenced to the understanding of the architectural complexity introduced in Project 1.1. It will be held an exercise that intends to consolidate the role of the student as the primary responsible in the teaching process, being reflection and practice developed in an integrated manner.

The final classification is obtained by weighting the result of the final work evaluation with the remaining marks obtained by the student throughout the year.

The calculation method is not arithmetic but compensated with the quality of development achieved by the student. Given the nature of the discipline - no final exam ¿ recourse tests will not be considered. The lack of one or more components of the planned evaluation will result in a negative classification of the student.
