Geometry 1.2
Presentation
Geometry 1.2. it is a curricular unit, committed to the territory and its graphic representation in the context of architecture, according to the orthographic projection system applied to horizontal projections (top view). Supported by a scientific and rigorous approach, it develops a mediation between representation and the perception of space. Due to its practical theoretical content, it defines a set of knowledge that is articulated and applied between the UCs of Drawing and Project. As a whole, provides practical and mental tools in a dynamic that is always supported by logical-deductive analytical thinking and the practice of drawing. Geometry 1.2. plays a pivotal role in a learning process, developing means and knowledge for critical reading of space / territory, for reading maps and architectural drawings, in order to consolidate representation and project thinking in architecture under the conditions of the territory.

Recommended complementary curricular units
The Geometry Unit 1.2. it considers the conditions and the interpretation of the space, according to the orthographic projection system, applied to the representation of terrain. Thus, on the one hand, it establishes a principle of continuity in relation to practices based on the knowledge of projective foundations, initiated from secondary education and based on Geometry 1.1. On the other hand, it provides practical and mental tools through a dynamic always supported both, in logical-deductive analytical thinking and in the practice of drawing, creating a complementary natural bridge with the drawing and project curricular units.

Syllabus
1.1. System Basics. 1.2. Representation of the point, the line and the plane. 1.3. Intersections 1.4. Parallelism and Perpendicularity 1.5. Rotation about a horizontal axis (Rebatting) 1.6. Shadows 1.7. Listed projections system applications. 1.7.1. Pitched roofs 1.7.2. Basic notions of topography, the representation of the territory.
Objectives
Position Geometry as the fundamental basis of the grammar of representation drawing and as a critical and rigorous mental process, endowed with fundamental tools and techniques in the reading of space and in the process of designing architecture. Develop critical, methodological and technical skills in the different processes of geometric transformations and their properties as a means of reading, building, representing objects, space, territory and light/shadow. Provide rigorous processes of thinking through drawing and developing capacity for spatial abstraction in predicting solutions in architectural design. The specific skills, aim to provide the student with a set of elementary technical and theoretical knowledge: When reading maps and topographic maps; in the representation of the territory by contour lines; in solving problems of integration and implementation of the project in the territory and in the adequacy of scales; solving problems and planning sloping roofs.
Teaching methodologies and assessment
Methodologies: theoretical / expository / demonstrative; laboratory practice; and tutorial. Theoretical classes are designed to show and demonstrate programmatic content. The practical laboratory classes develop practical exercises to apply the syllabus; The tutorial classes critically accompany the development of the project, carried out, in autonomous time. In the circumstances of COVID-19, classes may start at distance by video conference. MOODLE establishes itself as a central communication platform, where a space for discussion and information dedicated to each class was created. On this site, students deposit photographs of the work developed and collect proposals as well as the respective evaluations. Minimum attendance of 75% is mandatory. Assessment is continuous without final exam, distributed between: performance in class (50%) + autonomous project work (15%) + global exercise (35%).
