Construction 1.2
Presentation
Develop the understanding of the importance of the techniques (materials and construction systems) in the characterization of the ideas of Architecture, in the relation between Form and Construction inherent in the understanding of the architectural space.
It will be the beginning of the perception of what the apprenticeship of the techniques and constructive systems can constitute not only a road for the technical qualification of the project but also a stimulus for the formal creation.

Syllabus
Theoretical and practical classes:
The theoretical approach will be based on the exhibition of some subjects, with base essentially in the presentation of models and architectural types:
1 - Wall systems
2 - Floor and roof systems
3 - The intersection between plans
4 - Representation of openings and frames
In the classrooms one will try to highlight the theoretical acquisitions, and therefore, will be developed by several exercises, prepared individually or in working groups , aiming to board the problematics of construction (materials, building systems, structures, infrastructure, etc..), taken as an essential component in the configuration and modeling of built space.
Objectives
Theoretical / practical classes able to promote an approach between the ideas of Architecture and Construction, in a permanent reference to the inseparability of the building systems and the will of Form, studying the architectural space in terms of its constructive dimension and establishing an initial awareness and understanding of the constructive systems and the materials that comprise them.
Teaching methodologies and assessment
We propose a teaching method with continuous evaluation, without final exam, with theoretical and practical classes based on the development of an autonomous program, consisting essentially of the
presentation of models and architectural types, fitted in the History of the Construction.
One will try to develop the ability of reading of the relations between the parts and their whole, gradually leading to the discovery of the identity between the most elementary detail and the idea of Architecture that makes it meaningful.
Practical work will focus on the interpretation of built models, with the resource of representation methods that allow bringing near such exercises and the current acquisitions in the context of the disciplines of the area of Drawing, privileging the understanding of the space, of the form and of his constructive sense
