Apresentação

It is increasingly difficult to talk about "art" in the singular, because it has been disappearing its specificity as a means as well as the boundaries which separated the artistic object from other objects. Speaking of the 'arts' in the plural correspond to recognize that in contemporary times, the arts have escaped  the categories and codes that delimited them, while they spread throughout the whole experience. The reasons for this are multiple, including technological and cultural order. The apprehension of this phenomenon goes, first, by understanding the place of art in modern times and its subsequent trajectories, since modernism and the avant-garde until the so-called as post-avant-garde. Second, you  need to map the main forms of contemporary art, with particular attention to how broke through to and / or expanded their historical contex.

  3. Themes and contemporary issues.

Art for the  art, political art, institutional critique, western and non-western art     everyday life in contemporary art, ready-made, objet trouvé and ownership.

  1. Painting.

Figurative painting, abstract, site-specific painting and painting in expanded field.

Escultura, escultura site-specific e escultura em campo expandido.

  1. Sculpture, site-specific sculpture and sculpture in expanded field.
  2. Photographic practices

Documentary photography, abstract photography, the expanded field of photography, the relationship of photography with painting with sculpture and performance.

  1. The performing arts

Performance art,  Happening e Body Art,

The relation performance art with the performing arts (theater, dance, music), poetry, cinema and the visual arts.

  1. Video Art and Performance. Between creating and the documentation.

 

 

Objetivos

  1. Recognize the various agent which constitute the system of contemporary art, the various expositive space and spaces for the presentation of artistic creations,
  2.   know the artist playing field, the different practices and artistic areas of intervention,
  3. and finally know the different themes and contemporary issues.

 

Metodologias de ensino e avaliação

The theoretical classes will be developed with an explanation from each point of the program, always bracketed with projection of images and references.

The final assessment is based on the evolution of the  student during the semester course (attendance, punctuality, interest and participation) and the completion and submission of a collection research and critique work on a topic at a later date. Will not be accepted jobs that have not been properly monitored.
