Presentation

The UC of Atelier Design de Som, intends to broaden and deepen the students' knowledge regarding the UC of Introduction to Sound Design and its application and companion of the final degree project. The sound aspect applied to the development of content for multimedia applications and video games is increasingly prevalent not only in its communicational aspect but also following the technological evolution of resources and consequent integration and interaction techniques with users.

In this sense, UC intends to refine concepts, production pipelines, techniques and state-of-the-art technology in the field of sound design applied to video games, contributing to an approximation to a final and polished state of its final project and in line with the industry's industrial practice.

Objectives

Ability to operate professional tools and software for Sound Design

Ability to record and transform sound sources

Develop work in the area of ¿¿sound design for digital media, with an emphasis on sound design for games and digital applications.

Work in a team context with emphasis on aspects of constructive criticism among peers.

Interpret and apply requirements inherent to the Sound Design process.

At the end of this course, the student will be able to:

To use in an autonomous, refined and critical way the knowledge obtained in the Course of Introduction to Sound Design of the same degree.
Be able to conceptualize, analyze and develop sound projects for multimedia applications and digital games.
Be able to search for and try alternative solutions for Sound Design.
Use in a relevant and autonomous way the main tools for Sound Design discussed in class.

Teaching methodologies and assessment

Teaching methodologies will be predominantly practical.

Through practical mini-projects, it is intended that students exercise techniques and concepts inherent in Sound Design and apply them in their final project.

Continuous evaluation. The final grade is based on the student's evolution during the semester: attendance, punctuality, interest and participation (P), presentation of phases of the partial projects (MP) and a final project (PF).

Evaluation formula: 0.20 * P + 0.30 * MP + 0.50 * PF
