Entrance Conditions

National access competition/tender:
Having completed the 12th grade;
A grade higher than 95 points (range 0-200), in the following entrance exams:
09- Geography
17- Mathematics Applied to Social Sciences
18- Portuguese

Entry competition/tender:
Course changes;
In accordance with Decree 401/2007, of April 5.
Special competition/tender for those over the age of 23:
On completing 23 years of age by the 31st of December of the preceding year
Those not entitled access to higher education (if they have undertaken and been approved in the entrance test for the college they want to enter, they are entitled to the referred access).
Special competition/tender for higher education graduates and Diplomas in Specialized Technology:

In today's world where the dimensions of the political and economic will build the "social" more humane and less unequal, it must be a solid academic base for entering the labor market, and professional development through postgraduate, specializations and other training activities organized as learning opportunities throughout life.

The 1st cycle degree in Social Service/Work aims to:
Enable students to engage in social in different social contexts;
Articulate knowledge of the area of ??social services to the areas of social sciences and humanities;
Integrate a holistic, theoretical and methodological dimensions, ethical-political, technical and methodological;
Mobilizing knowledge to solve emerging issues;
Articulate their practice with other social practices, an interdisciplinary view;
Researching and building analysis of reality where it exerts its activity.

The Social Service/Work, profession with more than 100 years of activity, with a heritage built by stages of change towards the upgrading of social responses, is today marked by new challenges, to whom have to respond effectively, sense of innovation and competitiveness, allways bearing in mind the context in which it operates. It thus becomes important to develop capacities and skills to respond to rapid social changes, which implies a solid theoretical and practical preparation based on the integration of training courses in Social Work, General Education, Scientific Methodology and others.

Occupacional Profiles

A Social Service Professional may exercise its activity in public, private and also as liberal professional, through advisory services, consultancies and companies


From the third semester on, the student begins to make contact with reality, developing field work in an institution. The goal is to provide a list of learning tasks that raises a critical appropriation of knowledge, providing the conditions for forming the development of an autonomous work regularly supervised by teachers.
