Objectives
A degree in Psychology totals 180 ECTS, spread over six semesters. The 1st cycle of studies in Psychology aims to provide students with a generalist education, enabling the realization of a 2nd cycle of studies leading to the professionalization of the field. Assuming that any specialization in psychology, presupposes a solid basic training, the 1st cycle degree aims to provide basic but fundamental skills in the field, to ensure and promote a consciousness of the technical profile of the profession.
Knowledge, abilities and skills to be acquired
Basic eduication in psychology will provide the student with cognitive, relational and instrumental skills that will enable access to the 2nd cycle of studies, which is supposed to be of specialization.
Further Studies
Students should pursue studies of 2nd Cycle / Masters in a specialized area of their choice. The FP/ULP offers its students the possibility of post-graduate studies in Clinical Psychology and Health, Forensic Psychology and Educational Psychology.
Occupacional Profiles
The contexts in which the intervention of professional practice of psychology is justified and becomes indispensable vary greatly: health facilities and rehabilitation services, educational institutions and training of various levels, labor organizations, communities and municipal organizations, courts and care institutions and legal protection to minors; prison institutions and social reintegration support institutions and host for the elderly; units and support services to the victim services and the occupation of leisure tourism, marketing and advertising, human resources management ; services and urban planning projects. The professional activities that may have access Psychologists also include teaching and research.
