I - Economics: object, introductory concepts and analysis tables

II - Economic Systems: A First Approach to Models of Economic Organization
     1-The main currents of economic thought
     2- The English Classical School: Adam Smith; Jean-Baptiste Say; Thomas Robert Malthus; David Ricardo; criticism of the Classical School
     3 -From Utopian Socialism to Scientific Socialism
     4 - The succession of systems of economic organization: the transition from capitalist and centrally oriented economy systems to the mixed system


III -The Fundamental Market Laws: framework and general statement: demand's law; supply's law

Objectives

Achieving the basic concepts and theories of economics. Understand the scope of economic relations and its impact on the central issues of the functioning of economic, political and social institutions, both
internally and internationally. Understanding of economic relations, regulation and functioning of markets and the economy in general, as well as preparing the basis for further training.
Develop competences to understand and analysis the fundamental problems of micro and macroeconomics, relevant to training in other areas of the Bachelor's degree.
In the end, with this UC the students must achive the knowledge and ability to alysis the problems of applied economics to face the political and social problems, essential in the area of bachelor's.

Teaching methodologies and assessment

Theoretical and practical classes, with an expository component, because this is a UC of basic training at the level of the first year of graduation, followed by practical examples and practical cases proposed for resolution problems and applied economics. The students can achieve the practical interest of the acquired knowledge through case studies. We also develope the discussion in the decision-making class issued by regulators, the European Commission or the courts (national and European court) given in the field of competition or organisation of markets and a whole set of practical issues from the reality of nowadays. In some subjects, is developed with the methodology of fflipped classroom, enhancing the active intervention of students in discussion and critical analysis.

Assessment:

a) Continuous - 2 written tests (50% each);

b) Final: Written appeal exam (100%).- as provided for in the existing assessment regulation.
