International Organizations

Presentation

This curricular unit aims to discuss the role of international relations in the contexto of a growing economic and political globalization. The defense of national interests of the states, as well as the related attempt to develop a more assertive foreign policy in a international framework increasingly interdependente and guided by cooperation, oblige the states to think strategically the integration models (regional and international) that can best help meet their respective agendas. After analyzing and framing the origins of international organizations, along with their characteristics, we will proceed to the study of international political organizations, following regional organizations to conclude with a review of the role of Non-Governmental Organizations. It is important to understand and problematize the future of political integrations in a world dealing with crescent chalenges, such as terrorism and the crisis of nation-state.
