Professional Internship



The construction of the European Union: the current difficulties and the historical evolution.

Economic and Monetary Integration: from the Common Market to the Single Market, the strategy for growth and jobs, green employment, energy policy and environmental sustainability.

The European Agenda: from the Lisbon strategy to the Europe 2020 strategy, strategic challenges.

The problems of Europe's competitiveness and cohesion: the European Union in the context of the world economy, economic and social cohesion, social and regional policy.

The European labor market: employment policy, social protection and education.

The external context of human resource management: globalization and international factors, demographic and social trends, the technological context, government policy and legal regulation.


a) Understand the scope of adaptability to new environments and contexts; social awareness and ethical guidance; adaptation to different social and cultural environments (multiculturalism); the management of socio-cultural-economic diversities and the openness to innovation.

b) Understand how globalization and international forces shape and impact organizational strategies and human resource management practices.

c) Know the demographic, social and technological trends and how they shape and impact organizational and human resource management practices.

d) Achieve the domains of government policy and legal regulation and how they shape and impact organizational strategies and human resource management practices.

Teaching methodologies and assessment

In the teaching-learning process, methodologies will be used which include: expository classes, with presentation by the teacher of the theoretical frameworks of reference; participatory classes, where students are encouraged to participate in the discussion of various topics and are privileged with practical examples applied to the labor market, in addition to solving exercises; active classes with individual and group assignments.

Paper - 50% (* 40% = 25% discussion at the seminar + 25% in the delivery of a written report that served as support).

Test - 50%

Group work with individual evaluation.

Papers presented and discussed publicly in class. Each group will have 15 min. for presentation of the work, followed by discussion.

Reports delivered on paper. The document must not exceed 1500 words, including references.
