Objectives

1 - To portray the historical origin of the HR function and to frame it in the organizational scope.
1.1 - Define HRM and highlight its main objectives / challenges.
1.2 - Describe the various activities / functions / responsibilities that may be related to the HR function.
2 - Understand and describe the main stages of a HR function evaluation plan.
3 - Plan to justify the main phases of performance evaluation.
4 - Distinguish between selection and recruitment and identify the main stages of both processes.
5 - Understand the concept of career.
5.1 - Plan and describe the main steps of a career management plan.
6 - Distinguish between the various elements of a rewards system.
6.1 - Plan a rewards system.

Teaching methodologies and assessment

The classes are composed of a theoretical part, complemented by solving exercises and case studies. Students are encouraged to participate in the discussion of various topics and practical examples are privileged applied to the labor market.

 The evaluation method is continuous, which means that each student will be evaluated based on four elements:

  • Test (40%) 
  • Case study (20%: 40% oral + 60% written) 
  • Work (25%: 40% oral + 60% written) 
  • Participation during class (15%)

 

Pedagogical innovation practices:
Pedagogical innovation practices are considered, within the scope of this CU, discussions oriented to real cases, applied to the academic area of students. These discussions are continuous and are applied after the theoretical presentation of each theme. Students are also encouraged to do work based on a real context.
