Cost of Living
Portugal has a relatively low cost of life, as compared to other EU Member States. The average monthly cost of life of students in Porto can be estimated as follows:
- Accommodation: between 150/200 EUR (a room in an apartment shared with other students) and 400 EUR (a studio);
- Meals: between 150 EUR and 250 EUR P/ MONTH;
- Public Transports: 18,00 EUR (student monthly card in Main Zone of the City)
For your reference only, these are the prices of some products in Portugal:
- A carton of milk – 0, 60 EUR
- A bottle of water (1.5 l) - 0.40 EUR
- A piece of bread - 0.10 EUR
- 1 kg of rice - 0.70 EUR
- 1 coffee (expresso) - 0.60 EUR
- 1 meal – 3,00 EUR (in the University canteen)
- Bus (STCP) 1.30 EUR (a ticket purchased at the bus);
- Newspapers – 1,00 EUR (daily) and 2.50 EUR (weekly)
- Cinema - 4.00 EUR (students)
